15/02/2011 FINAL FRONT COVER

This is my front cover and I am really pleased with the outcome! Since the previous post I have slightly altered the artist's title as I did not like the black outline around the yellow text. I changed this to white so that it stands out much more. I have included my research below and how it has been relevant to my final front cover.

My Research shows that the font used is in block capitals and the  colours used are yellow, white and black. From this, I have used these colours and the style in which the text is created, I have altered it slightly for the title on my own front cover. I have used black blocks and placed on behind every other letter to create a kind of punk type font.

I have print screened an image from my research and the final photograph used for the front cover. Although they have different poses they are both similar and create attitude. The model that I used has eyeliner on but it is not as dark as the model on the right. They both have straight hair which sticks out and they both have a pale complexion.

From my earlier magazine research, I came across a punk/rock magazine called 'Big Cheese' and I really liked the way that the bands name was placed in the middle of the image on top of it and the speech underneath it. I placed the artist's name across the image of her to emphasise it and then put some dialogue in speech marks underneath it which I plan to link to the double spread about her. I think that it will attract the reader and it is quite a bold statement and could therefore portray the attitude of the artist.

15/02/2011 - How I made my front cover

gif animators
I created this GIF to show the different stages involved in making my music front cover.

I placed the image in the centre of the page so that this would allow me to use the rule of thirds when placed text around it. The title of the magazine was positioned along the top of the page to allow the reader to clearly see what it is called. I decided to change the background colour as it was too vibrant being just white, I selected a darker shade so that this would emphasise everything else. Next, I added the text and I decided to just use white and black text because I was going to use red originally but I did not want to use too many colours. I think that the black text it bold enough to stand out and the white underneath gives more information to the reader. I made the text 'JOSIE STUART' in InDesign and placed it on top of the image. Underneath this I added the speech to give the reader a bit more information about what the main article might be about and to attract their attention. Finally, I added a barcode as all magazines have this and then I inserted the month and year, the issue number and a price which is similar to the price of 'Big Cheese' magazine.

15/02/2011 - Scanned draft of front cover

Here is the copy of my final draft drawn in pencil for the front cover. It is still quite basic as I am not sure of the exact information that I want to include.

15/02/2011 - First Draft of Front Cover

This is a very basic first draft of my front cover.

I have included a scanned copy of the feedback that a fellow class mate gave me on the draft of my front cover.
